UNBS kicks off five-day PROFICIENCY TESTING training on ISO/IEC 17043:2023, with support from the EU-EAC Market Access Programme (MARKUP II).

Proficiency Testing (PT), a prerequisite for international accreditation, is an essential quality control measure that helps laboratories verify the accuracy of their testing processes, improve performance, and demonstrate competence to clients and regulatory bodies.

According to the ITC Coordinator for the MARKUP II program, Ludovica Ghizzoni, PT is a critical aspect in improving the quality of goods produced by MSMEs in the East African region, thus enhancing their market access and competitiveness.

The UNBS Executive Director, Eng. James N. Kasigwa, pledged full commitment and support to the programme, asserting that  its objectives align with the new UNBS value proposition of growing quality MSMEs.

The EAC Secretariat representative, Ms. Stella Apolot thanked the EU government for the support and the ITC for efforts in implementing the PT training.

The programme will further enhance UNBS testing capacity.
