Mr. Andrew Othieno is the Manager Standards Department (development, publishing and information), where he is responsible for the design, development and implementation of programme for development, harmonization and publishing of national standards; the information and resources centre and the national enquiry point on technical barriers to trade and Uganda’s contribution to regional and international standardization.
He holds a Master of Science (Msc) degree in Petroleum Geochemistry from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK, a BSc (Hons) degree in Industrial Chemistry from Makerere University Kampala and is currently completing an MBA with the University of Wales. Before joining UNBS, Andrew worked in various senior management regulatory positions in various corporate institutions and the United Nations (OPCW). He has 14 years experience in national and international regulatory and verification positions, working on chemicals management as well as EHS issues in multiple locations and field environments. He has experience in chemicals management, EHS compliance, review, implementation/management as well as performance reviews and auditing; ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and various other EHS related certification programmes.
