CAUTION AGAINST EXTORTION OF MONEY BY INDIVIDUALS MASQUERADING AS UNBS STAFF

It has come to our attention that individual(s) masquerading as UNBS staff are extorting money from the business community alleging to help them alter laboratory test results in their favour and illegally “assist” them to acquire the UNBS Quality Mark (Q).

Investigations into the matter are ongoing. Findings so far indicate that the suspect(s) are using telephone number +256 786 462 376, registered in the name of Getrude Kabonesa and +256 785 611 481 registered in the name of Julius Mboode to call clients, extort money and give false hopes of altering laboratory test results in their favour as well as fast track certification of their products, respectively.

UNBS would like to dissociate its self from such individual(s) and such illegal acts.

The public is hereby informed that ALL payments for UNBS testing and certification services are made to the URA account, through the bank and as such NO PHYSICAL EXCHANGE OF CASH SHOULD TAKE PLACE BETWEEN UNBS CLIENTS AND STAFF.

UNBS has zero tolerance for corruption and is working closely with relevant authorities to bring the culprits to book.
