The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a government agency responsible for Standardisation, Quality Assurance, Metrology and Laboratory testing (SQMT) with the objectives of promoting Fair trade and protecting consumers and the environment against harmful and substandard products.

It has come to our attention that some individuals masquerading as UNBS staff are extorting money from unsuspecting Ugandans, promising them jobs at UNBS.

Following investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department at UNBS, a female Ugandan, claiming to be called Kobusingye Stella alias Nanyanzi Safina alias Nambi Sarah,25, a resident of Najjera has been arrested for masquerading as a UNBS staff, extorting money from innocent Ugandans in exchange for jobs at UNBS.

The suspect was produced before the Chief Magistrates Court in Kira and remanded to Luzira prison until 5th January 2024.

Masquerading as UNBS staff is an offence punishable by law and the public is advised to desist from the vice.

UNBS informs the public that any available job opportunities at the Standards Body are advertised in the Newspapers, posted on the UNBS website and social media pages.

UNBS does not request for any payments or favours at any stage of recruitment.
