Kampala, 16th June 2020 - The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has certified thirteen (13) more companies to produce non-medical facemasks as of 16th June 2020, bringing the total number of certified non-medical facemasks manufactures to twenty-three (23).
This is in line with the UNBS mandate of consumer protection, aimed at protecting Ugandans from buying substandard non-medical facemasks which could be harmful to their health, in the wake of COVID-19.

More companies are still undergoing the certification process, thus, the number of companies certified to manufacture non-medical facemasks is expected to increase. UNBS will therefore issue updated lists periodically.
Wearing facemasks in public is mandatory for all Ugandans aged six (6) years and above, following the easing of the COVID-19 lockdown.
