Kampala, 04 June 2020 - The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has certified four (4) more companies to produce non-medical facemasks as of 2nd June 2020, bringing the total number of certified non-medical facemasks manufactures to ten (10).
This is in line with the UNBS mandate of consumer protection, aimed at protecting Ugandans from buying substandard non-medical facemasks which could be harmful to their health, in the wake of COVID-19.

So far, over 60 companies have applied for certification, thus, the number of companies certified to manufacture non-medical facemasks is expected to increase. UNBS will therefore issue updated lists periodically.
