UNBS held a stakeholder engagement on the rollout of the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) Code Issuance Scheme.

This engagement brought together key industry players to raise awareness about Uganda’s authorization to issue WMI codes and to gather stakeholder input ahead of full implementation. The WMI system is critical for vehicle identification, traceability, and regulation of manufacturers, strengthening quality assurance and compliance within the automotive sector. The session also provided a platform for stakeholders to understand the registration process, compliance requirements, and the broader benefits of the scheme to Uganda’s industrial development and trade facilitation.
