UNBS led by the Executive Director, Eng. James Kasigwa, hosts Parliament Committee on Trade, Tourism and Industry, led by the chairperson, Hon. Sylvia Nayebare, at the Standards House in Bweyogerere

Among the challenges presented by UNBS to the committee is; Limited funding and few staff to ably execute it’s mandate of consumer protection, fair trade and competitiveness of locally made products.

The UNBS Executive Director also presented the direction for UNBS, which is geared towards handholding MSMEs throughout product development to ensure growth of Quality MSMEs, as opposed to seeking UNBS certification at the tail end of product development, which is costly.

The Members of Parliament promised to support UNBS in solving its challenges and ably executing its mandate.
