Eng. John Paul Musimami has over twenty years in management positions at regional, departmental and directorate level as provided for in the current UNBS organizational structure.
His work experience is as follows: Production Technician (Nice House of Plastics) – November 1997– May1998, Standards Officer – Trainee (UNBS) – May 1998, In Charge Mbarara Weights & Measures Regional Office (2003 – 2005) & Mbale Weights & Measures Regional Office (2000 – 2003) (UNBS), Manager Legal Metrology (UNBS) - May 2005 to Dec 2016, Acting Manager Import Inspection (UNBS) - April-Dec 2012 and Deputy Executive Director – Compliance (UNBS) - Jan 2017 to date.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration- Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute/Maastricht School of Management, Arusha – Tanzania, Master of Arts Theology – African Renewal University, Buloba, Kampala and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Hons, Makerere University Kampala. Currently, he is pursuing Master of Science in Engineering at Kyambogo University.
Eng. John Paul Musimami has certificates in the following areas: Corporate Governance and Risk Management in Public Sector by Commonwealth Standards Network, Awareness and Understanding Risk Management Systems at UNBS, Growing Your Leadership Edge, PRINCE 2 Practitioner (Project Management qualification), Logical framework covering the designing of work plans and monitoring of performance, Corporate Governance training by Aclaim Africa, Management and Supervisory skills, Investigation & Prosecution) Law Development Centre, Kampala Uganda, Competing through productivity and quality, Singapore.
He is a Corporate Member Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) PE/1538 and is also a Registered Mechanical Engineer ERB NO: 1415. At the African Continent, he is the Vice Chairman of the Intra African Metrology Systems (AFRIMETS) Executive Committee.
He inspired and influenced innovations leading to several new projects and programs including verification of pressure gauges, Prepackage Control, verification of road tankers, bulk meters and verification of electricity meters at UNBS. At the directorate level, he led a team that held the initial discussions with SICPA in respect to the Digital Tracking Conformity Stamp implementation concept. Currently, together with his team, he is working on UNBS interventions in expanding the UNBS scope in the verification of water meters, underground tanks and fiscal meter in the upstream oil sector. He leads a team that is continuously devising and implementing strategies to improve on the quality of both imported and locally manufactured products on the market.
He was awarded Best Employee of the Year 2011- Uganda National Bureau of Standards by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.
