The UNBS Documentation and Information Centre is a national resource centre
for information on standards, technical regulations, conformity assessment
procedures , quality assurance, metrology and laboratory testing . The centre
meets the needs of industry, trade, government, researchers, academia and consumers.
Objectives of the centre
To provide an efficient information service on national, regional,
foreign, international standards, quality assurance, metrology and laboratory
testing ;
To operate as the national member of ISO Information Network
(ISONET).
Information resources available at the centre
Collection of Uganda Standards and draft Uganda Standards;
International standards from International Organisation for Standardisation
(ISO), Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), International Electrotechnical
Commission (IEC), and International Organisation for Legal Metrology (OIML);
Standards from other National Standards Bodies such British Standards
Institute (BSI), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International,
Kenya Bureau of Standards (KBS), Quality and Standards Authority of Ethiopia
(QSAE), Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS),
South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) etc;
Regional standards from African Regional Organisation for Standardisation
(ARSO);
East African Standards;
Documentation related to World Trade Organisation (WTO) Technical
Barriers to Trade (TBT) and Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) agreements;
Technical books , reports, handbooks, and periodicals on standardisation,
quality assurance and testing .
The Documentation and Information Centre is open for the public from Monday
to Friday.

2.00pm - 5.00pm
