 At policy level: The UNBS falls under the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry. The minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry appoints the National Standards Council (NSC), a body that is responsible for overall policy guidance of UNBS.
At management level: Executive Director heads the UNBS. Two heads of Directorates support the Executive Director: Deputy Executive Director Technical Operations (TO) and Deputy Executive Director Mangement Services (MS). These are supported by Departmental Heads who coordinate the operations of UNBS. UNBS management team is comprised of the following:
1. Dr. Terry Kahuma Executive Director
2. Dr. Ben Manyindo - Deputy Executive Director Technical Operations Directorate
3. Mr. Mackay Aomu - Deputy Executive Director Management Services Directorate
4. Mr. Davis Ampwera - Finance and Administration Manager
5. Mr. Deus Mubangizi - Manager Testing Department
6. Mr. David Kiragga - Quality Management Representative
7. Mr. Patrick Ssekitoleko - Manager Quality Assurance Department
8. Mr. Yasin Lemeriga - Manager National Metrology Laboratory
9. Mr. Sam Balagadde - Ag. Head of Technical Laision Division
10. Mr. Moses Ssebunya - Principal Public Relations Officer
11. Mr. John Paul Musimami - Manager Legal Metrology
12. Ms. Susan Akantunga - Human Resource Manager
13. Mr. Julius - Mugisa Audit Manager
14. Mrs. Patricia Ejalu Bageine - Manager Standards Development
15. Ms Wenene Hellen Legal Counsel
16. Dr. Ndifuna Abdul Staff Representative.
17. Mr. Jackson Mubangizi - Manager Training and Consultancy Department
18. Dr. Mark Kayongo - Principal Accountant
UNBS staff comprises of Scientists, Engineers and Technicians in various disciplines. Of the total number of staff, about three quarters are technical professionals and the rest are support staff. |
