Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory organization established
by an Act of Parliament of June 1983 and became operational in 1989. The UNBS
Headquarters is located in Nakawa Industrial Area with regional offices in
Lira, Mbale, Jinja, Kampala and Mbarara.
The mission of UNBS is to enhance national development through the application of standards in trade, industry and consumer protection.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission
The Codex Alimentarius Commission is the international organisations that develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice to protect the health of consumers and ensuring fair-trade practices in the food trade, and promoting coordination of all food standards work undertaken by international governmental and non-governmental organisations.
